i deleted some programs that was affiliated with the .ink and now i cant
find .ink in the regedit T_T

The thing is…run is .lnk so I cannot open it!
The registry Editor opens as a .lnk file for me :/
I can even open regedit file……..

Wow. Thank you! I really mean it. I don’t know much about my computer, and
I thought I was screwed. till I saw your video. It worked the first time,
and was simple with your instructions.
This absolutely worked for me. I had been playing with file associations
and didn’t know what I was doing. In my limited layman’s terms, I suspect
the logic is that the registry creates this User Choice entry under the
.lnk file extension when a user dabbles with the Default Programs. Windows
programmers obviously forgot that not every user is a programmer and
neglected to include a simple « reset to default » which would do the same
thing as this very nicely laid out explanation. It would be interesting to
know how many people have dabbled in Default Programs and had difficulty
understanding what they were doing. I ran into problems when my computer
refused to do Windows Updates and I noticed I had lost my IE browser (as I
was using Chrome); upon trying to reinstall IE browser I was told I had a
more current version. It was at that point I entered Default Programs to
see if I could restore IE browser, and then I saw that one of the Google
Chrome programs had a IE logo so I made that a default – BIG MISTAKE. So,
thank you very much for getting me back to normal. I even tried restore
and my computer balked at restoring me to a recent restore point. Win7 is
a disappointment.

To open such said files. I right click the icon, click on properties, then
open file location. click the .exe file. It opens.
